having trouble getting to work today, so i tried to do something else. yeees it turned into pokemon....

i could have done something for the 493 challenge, but i didn't feel like doing the angular lasso thing today...

i am hoping to clear the 493 before this year is over, but that seems hopless considering the new job and how long it's taken just to get done what i have. i wil clear it though, but in time.

and i guess after the 493 challenge, the next is a "creating 151" challenge, a Pokemon Alphabet challenge, and maybe a Pokemon Card challenge (with whatever 151 i end up making)

um...after that i don't know what to do. granted that's like 2 years worth of projects, but does anyone have an idea of what to do next?

i must admit, Leafeon and Glaceon have grown on me, but i still wish they made them look more like......the classic eevees.
Espeon and Umbreon, on the other hand, are allowed to get away with it because they are more "natural" evolutions.

Jolteon and Espeon are the best.

i am a purist.

i do not aprove of the reworked "official" pokemon art. and now that 2nd gen is about to be re-released, it is about to become impossible to find the original work

....however, i do look forwards to Soulsilver and Heartgolds' release as long as they don't change too much of the game play AND SO LONG AS THEY LET YOU TRAVEL TO DIFFERENT REGIONS AGAIN FINALLY!!!

i did not have my stylus pen, so instead of working i milled on Deviantart for a bit and then remembered the Polygonal Lasso Tool in Photoshop.

OOOH boy! since i don't have time to clean them up, here are some Blogmen roughs and trial passes:

i like these guys: Numbrin and Lumbrine. i might make Lumbrine less coral-based, since Corsola already fills the rolls of a coral pokemon. both are ice-water

Mugrub and Waskud, ground-bug/ ground-fly pokemon, editted slightly from their versions on DA:
a rough battle, Odontussel and Encremit are throwing down

some water-rock equivelants to Geodude: Impet, Impermit, and Encremit, fairly heavily edited from the original on DA:

some Fossil development. Fodduar and Ankannon and the little Karnotorok there are pretty much finalized, but Diplark/Diplunder still need some work. aaand as you can see, when i start out with the first design, it looks pretty much looks exactly what it's supposed to be.

i found this on my drive from a few days back because, luckily, my computer is working fine for this breif time. i need to swap Vista for XP soon though, it seems to be getting increasingly more tempramental.

(yeah, turns out there's no virus. at all. it's only Vista)

sooo, some fire-cactuses! not to say Cacnea and Cacturn are bad, and after looking it up i do understand why they are dark types, but i kind of....expected something better. i mean, i love Cacnea, but there's something about Cacturn i really dislike. i think it's how doughy he is, and the diamond pattern as a such a cop out......i really have come to hate the diamond pattern...

...anyways:

despite it's incredible body temperature and it's arid habitats, it can store water for at least 4 months.

the flower's on it's hands and head act as valves to release excessive amounts of heat when it gets too excited. it is easily excited.

it turns out the endless source of soot comes from a vent-like cavity in Taiphra's back, which develops more after it evolves.

it is not a very good swimmer, but luckily it's head is very boyant and keeps it afloat.

it can fully submerge it'self, but usually cruises on top of the water. Lifeguards and mariners prefer to keep these pokemon on hand.

i think i'm going to take off the "totem pole" look and give him more of a bandana/sash thing.

oh, what sense of color design, red and purple are fantastic!!

yeah, this is actually the first fakemon (..i mean "Blogmon") i ever made, back when i was 12 or something....and...i think....it was around when 2nd gen came out and there was all that random promo stuff, and somewhere i thought i had seen this crazy red and purple dragon with huge fists and like...white mushroom things like Eggsecute like things on it's sides. i don't even know, but i took that idea home and tried to draw it. and then my sister got Pokemon Silver, and all through playing it i expected to see some kind of likeness between those new ones and this red thing i'd made. but it turned out to be just a gross and bizarre misinterpretation of some kind.

then again, i misinterpreted alot of pokemon the first time around. when they first came onto the scene in elementary school, i mixed vulpix and Ponyta together, and misinterpreted Feraligatr as an armored T rex.

i was only popular in elementary school because i could draw pokemon better than everybody else...

but yeah, this guy was entirely a grade school fluke, and i kept that picture...i should dig it up and post it just for the "lawls".

**oh yeah, and upon name-research, i found out why Pugilast is named Pugilast...it makes so much sense now...

actually, before whatever ungodly virus really settles in on my laptop and before i dissapear for whatever weeks, here's progress on an evo of Skarmory. it's the setup where you trade him with a thing and he gets a nice upgrade.

i need to make the wings less insectile and give him a nice little name.

this guy is one of...probably 5 fakes that evolves/prevolves from actual existing ones. i'd like to keep it at just 5.

these are the stage 1 starters of "Blogmons", the first of a coming 151

the only one i'm not solid on is the fire one. i might remodel or replace him. the other 2 are done though. um.....lets try naming them! this is the part i always sucked most at:

grass starter:

Mosstump: the stump pokemon

Grass type

1'5", around 13 lb

(...guess where the name comes from)

because of it's cumbersome form, it hides itself amongst forest debris so that passersby mistake it for a regular stump

fire starter:

Taiphra: the ash pokemon

Fire type

1'4", around 7 lb

somehow, it produces incredible amounts of soot when it moves.

(Taiga/tiger +Tephra; tephra being small volcanic rock particles)

water starter:

Oobrank: the slime pokemon

Water type

1'9", around 15 lb

it excretes a thick ooze which acts as a sunblock while it scavenges the beach for something to eat.

(Oobleck; a fictional slime+Nudibranch; a popular grouping of oceanic slugs)

so, a stump, a soot-tiger, and a sea slug- i got to go my battery's about to go out!

so, let's start off with the classic "My Favorite Pokemon Meme"! Yeah!

starting from Bug: Pinsir, Tyranitar, Shelgon, Chinchou, Primeape and Hitmonlee, Charmander, Jumpluff, Misdreavus, Lotad, Swinub, Snorunt, Persian, Drapion and Koffing, Espeon, Corsola, Magneton (or just 3 Magnemites...), and Blastoise.

weeeell, this blog is here as a side-vent for pokemon and "fakemon," just so i have an alternative place for them. i do intend to make a fake regional set of pokemon (possibly with sprites as well), and i don't want it accumulating in what i consider my "personal works" spaces. it's high time i had a proffessional display page as well as a true separation between personal and fan work.
